We
aim to:
We hope we provide a voice for young people in
Northfield Constituency which includes Northfield,
Weoley, Longbridge and
Kings Norton wards. Facilitate the development
of youth involvement activities. Assess and approve applications
from youth / community groups for funding.
Any young person in the Northfield Constituency
aged between 12-19 years can become a member. If you are
interested in getting involved please see the attachments
to the right.
About
us In September 2005, following the creation
of a temporary forum, young people were invited
to join prompting an excellent response from across
Northfield, Longbridge
& Weoley. The
constituency now includes Kings Norton
ward and the forum’s membership embraces
people from across all the wards.
The group meets on a monthly basis and has begun
to make important decisions on how to distribute
its grant money - from the Neighbourhood
Renewal Fund and the Youth Opportunities
Fund - and determine key priorities across
the constituency.
This makes us a truly powerful and responsible
group within the constituency, giving us real
power and real money! Forum Members also sit as
of right on the Ward Advisory Boards
in the four wards of the Constituency.
Successses
One of our first achievements was the inaugural
Young People’s Conference
held on 26th January 2007.
The conference was organised and delivered by
the Forum members and was an overwhelming success.
Please see the events
calender for more information.
The Forum were also nominated
to represent the City at the Celebration Ball
for Young People across the West Midlands
as organised by Government West Midlands Office
on March 1st 2007 as well as winning the Pride
of Northfield Young Person’s Group of the Year.
